Emily in Paradise: Part 4

greeting

Hey everybody!! Welcome back, again! 😂

unnamed

I spent the day at the beach with my family and a few friends. I snorkeled the coral reef with my GoPro as well, which was amazing! Afterwards, we headed over to Aquaventure again to get in some action.

Emily in Paradise: Part 3

greetingIt’s me again (obviously, who else would it be? XD)!

Welcome to Day 3 of Emily in Paradise!

what I did today

Guess what, guys?
I swam with dolphins again today!!

This is my third time swimming with dolphins in my life, and I’m so excited! Dolphins are my absolute favorite animal (and I’ve always kind of been an animal nerd, XD) ❤

Our dolphin’s name was Cosmo, and I did a 90 minute snorkel and interaction with him. It was an such amazing experience to swim and hug the dolphin! I also got to (kind of) ride Cosmo (see the video at the bottom)!

After my 90 minutes of dolphin heaven, we walked over to Aquaventure again, where I finally braved the Leap of Faith! Okay… my dad pushed me onto it… but still!

After a fun time with the water slides and a large amount of chlorine water in my eyes, nose, and throat, we met up with some friends for dinner. 🙂

Emily in Paradise: Part 2

greeting

Hey everybody! Welcome back!

unnamed

what I did today

After eating breakfast, we headed down to Aquaventure for the first time. There’s a building at the center of the water park that launches most of the water slides off of it. We started off by doing that, and it was so fun! I screamed really loud, and apparently after I went down, my brother said, “Wow, she sounds like a cheesy horror movie scream” XD

Let’s read some descriptions of the slides, shall we?

Leap of Faith (the one I screamed the loudest on, XD):

The Leap of Faith slide offers a daring and adventurous 60-foot almost-vertical drop from the top of the world-famous and iconic Mayan Temple. The body slide propels riders at a tremendous speed through a clear acrylic tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon.

The Abyss (my favorite one!!):
Beginning with a staggering 50-foot near vertical drop through complete darkness within the Power Tower, this thrilling 200-foot-long body slide ends as guests splash through waterfalls and into The Cenote – an underground lair of prehistoric alligator gars and fish.

The Surge (my favorite inner tube slide)

Starting at the top level of the 120-foot Power Tower, this inner tube ride features a camel back drop into a cavern, then quickly twists and turns downwards into white-water rapids caused by a flash flood.

Sounds fun, right? XD

After a long day of the water park, we headed over to the beach- which is every bit as stunning as the promo photos!

On the way back to our hotel (the Reef tower), we stopped by the turtle and ray lagoons.

Emily in Paradise: Part 1

greeting

What’s up, friends? 🙂
Welcome to the beginning of my long-ish-awaited Bahamas blog series! I’m starting off today with a shorter intruductory post. Enjoy!

Well, let’s get to it!!

unnamed

I’m so excited and blessed to be able to take this trip! We’re staying on Paradise Island, at Atlantis, which takes up the majority of the island. Here’s a little teaser:

Photos from the Atlantis website- atlantisbahamas.com

So, what am I going to do on this blog series?

  1. Swim with dolphins-twice! I’m doing a deep water snorkel and a shallow water interaction. Dolphin Cay (the large lagoon where the dolphins are kept and trained) has an interesting story behind it which will be shared in a later post.
  2. Go to the resort’s amazing waterpark! Aquaventure has 11 pools, a mile-long rapids river, and many thrilling waterslides!

Aquaventure, Atlantis Paradise Island’s water park, is a one-of-a-kind, 141-acre waterscape. This non-stop aquatic playground features over twenty million gallons of water, magnificient Atlantean-themed towers housing high-speed water slides, a mile-long river ride with rolling rapids and wave surges, 20 swimming areas, a spectacular kids water-play fort and 11 refreshing swimming pools. Aquaventure is a lush, tropical environment that is both immersive and interconnected, and perfect for all vacationers, whether young and older. The water park offers an extreme level of excitement and delivers an “aqua” adventure unlike any other.

3. See the stunning beaches, of course! And snorkel with my GoPro

4. Atlantis is home to the largest marine habitat in the world- I’ll definitely be seeing that! The aquarium is spread out through the whole resort.

Before getting a first look at Paradise Island, vacationers may not realize the incredible opportunity they’ll have to explore the extraordinary collection of marine habitats and marine exhibits—lagoons, caves, coral formations and breathtaking underwater ruins are designed to showcase exotic marine life ranging from sharks to rays, barracuda, piranha, eels and even endangered alligator gar. Atlantis, Paradise Island is home to the largest open-air marine habitat in the world… encompassing 14 lagoons, eight million gallons of ocean water and more than 50,000 aquatic animals representing over 250 marine species.

…to name a few things 🙂

what did I do today?

Our flight was delayed so instead of getting there at around 5 or 6 pm, we got there at midnight. We checked into the hotel at about 1 am. Tomorrow, we plan to head to the water park and hopefully the beach 🙂

unnamed

I’m so excited for tomorrow’s adventure!

See you then!

An Emergency- Please Pray for me!!

Hi friends,

Sorry for the ugly, graphic-less post, haha

I just wanted to do a quick post and ask you all to keep us in your prayers. There is a large fire right next to our house. It’s also raining ash. Our car is stuck a few blocks away and we’re kinda panicking, and I just saw 4 fire trucks and police cars go past my house. My mom just talked to the officer, and he said to prepare to evacuate. I”mm at home now, but if the fire spreads we are going to leave.

I’ll try to get some photos later. There’s an mandatory evacuation now, so we’ll be leaving soon.

Thank you everyone. I’ll go back to my normal blog post schedule soon. 🙂 ❤

UPDATE- JUNE 3

Hey everyone! We’re back at home and the fire is out for now!! All the fire trucks came in from different counties and are now clearing the brush. Here are the photos from yesterday and today:

Sorry for the bad video/audio quality- there were a ton of helicopters and trucks

Sorry for the bad photo quality, I had to take it on my mom’s iPhone, XD

This is the photo from today of the damage:

Thank you all for your prayers! The fire is out and we’re back home! There are a few smoky areas where they are air lifting water but other than that, we’re good! ❤

Aren’t these too cute? We had to hot glue the blueberry-eye onto the dolphin/banana, though 😀
_MG_4133
My beautiful cake!! Photos don’t really do it justice, but it was still amazing!

Trip Photography: Mountains + Desert

Hello, friends ❤

May is finally here! It’s a busy month for me (I had to have a few days off of blogging).

This is some of my photography from a couple recent trips to my science camp and a family vacation to Palm Springs. Enjoy! ❤

  3. The 110º weather (if you cannot tell, I’m being sarcastic)
  4. Shopping at the outlets!

And… Star Wars Day 🙂 I was at camp during Star Wars Day, but a few people who didn’t go drove over to Disneyland to do the whole Star Wars thing that they put on this year.

Oh yeah… and my birthday! Yay!!

Syd and I are still working on that calligraphy post… hopefully it will be out soon!

Enough rambling, Em! Well, I hope you all have a magnificent week!
